Important Notes:

In custom painting, SEALERS are not an option.  They are a MUST!.  They have 3 functions....

1) They greatly improve adhesion between the substrate and the basecoat.

2) They make the vehicle one color, thereby reducing the number of coats of base to save you money.

3) They greatly improve color hold out and finish quality.

 

Preparation:

Please be aware that Shimrin® / Shimrin2® bases, Kolors, and Klears can be susceptible to staining or bleeding from polyester body fillers, putties and fiberglass resins.  To prevent staining, refer to the tech pages on KD3000 series or KP series primers.  It is important to maintain at least 2 mil film thickness of KD or KP series primer over all fillers and substrates.

SHIMRIN2®

Shimrin2® is the 2nd generation of ground-breaking universal basecoats from House of Kolor. 

 



SHIMRIN® METALLIC BASES (BC and FBC)
Available in coarse or ultra-fine metallic, each offers full coverage in 3-4 coats. Clear for a final finish, or use as a base for Kandys. With their unique chemical make-up, they may be top coated with either acrylic lacquer or urethane enamel.



KOSMIC KONVERTOR (KV1)
KV1 Kosmic Konvertor is an additive for Shimrin® base coats and was developed to effectively lower the VOC's of House of Kolor's Shimrin® Base Coats to meet the VOC limits of 3.5 lb / gal voc for SCAQMD Rule 1151 and SJVAQMD Rule 4602 & 4612 Phase II. This is accomplished by using low molecular weight urethane resins and exempt solvents thereby increasing the solids of our Shimrin® base coats and lowering the VOC to 3.5 lbs. / gal. or lower.



 
KOSMIC KANDY KARRIER (UC25)
 Kosmic Kandy Karrier UC25 is a 2.1 VOC product that meets the VOC's for SCAQMD Rule 1151 and SJVAQMD Rule 4602 & 4612 Phase II compliancy. UC25 is designed to be used as a karrier for our KK Koncentrates to duplicate our UK Kandy Kolors over our Shimrin® Base Coats. UC25 is medium solids, 30% solids as applied, and has the same application properties as our conventional UK Kandy's. UC25 features excellent clarity. It has excellent weathering and ultraviolet resistance.

INTENSIFIER KANDY KONCENTRATE (KK) Use to enrich any of our Kosmic Kolor Urethane Enamel Kandys or Kustom Kolor Acrylic Lacquer Kandys. Our intensifiers reduce the number of coats required to color match an exterior finish. Works great on door jambs, under the hood and in trunk areas. Is also great for small parts, and motorcycles, when time is a factor. Can also be used with SG100 or our lacquer clears for multi-colored artwork.

SG150 Intercoat Pearl & Flake Karrier

SG150 Intercoat Pearl & Flake Karrier is an innovative mid-coat material designed specifically for use with Pearls, Flakes, and other dry products offered in the House Of Kolor product line. SG150 features advanced chemistry that encapsulates pearl and flake particles, causing them to self-orient and "lock" in place. This action will vastly improve spray characteristics and finish quality. SG150 dries to a very clear, high quality finish, but is only intended for use as an intercoat. Available in one quart cans.
 
Features and Benefits Greatly reduces or eliminates settling of pearls and flakes in the spray gun Locks dry particles into place so they won't move when top-coated
 
Dries crystal clear and allows the brilliance of the pearls and flakes to shine through.



 

POLYURETHANE ENAMEL KLEAR (UC35)

UC-35 is a 3.5 VOC, National Rule and SCAQMD Rule 1151 compliant version of UC-1. It may be used to topcoat any urethane or polyurethane enamels, and any SHIMRIN® Base Coat color. UC35 gives a high-gloss, has excellent weathering and UV resistance. UC35 dries fast and hard, and can be colored sanded and buffed the next day
